Security Laws In New York
New York, as with many other states have enacted laws to protect consumers and the general public from fly by night, unethical security alarm installers and service companies. If you are searching for a security alarm company in New York, a great place to start your search is with the New York Burglar and Fire Alarm Association.

New York Burglar and Fire Alarm Association: www.nybfa.org
Metropolitan Burglar and Fire Alarm Association: www.mbfaa.com

The New York Burglar and Fire Alarm Association along with the Metropolitan Burglar and Fire Alarm Association are associate members of the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association NBFFA.

Whether your company is in the electronic life safety, security, or systems industry or includes members of the industry among its customer base, NBFAA has a membership to meet your needs. Regular membership is offered to companies classified as an Installing Dealer or a Third Party Monitoring Company. Installing Dealer regular members provide installation, repair, and/or monitoring of security alarms, fire alarms, or other electronic security systems. Third Party Monitoring Company regular members provide monitoring of security alarms, fire alarms, or other electronic security systems.

Another important agency to check with is the New York Department of State, Division of Licensing Services, www.dos.state.ny.us, which administers the regulatory licensing of all New York Burglar Alarm Companies. DOS is the author and administrator of the New York State Business of Installing, Servicing or Maintaining Security or Fire Alarm Systems: Article 6-D General Business Law.
